Followed by the first Ellsworth Miller Lecture of 2026 – Phil Merrill’s talk: A Bridge Too Far, the super effort by this community to shape a world we do not inhabit. Following the lecture coffee, soft drinks, cookies and other goodies from our cookbook will be served.

Monday July 27 at 7:00PM at the Community Hall

CIHS Board member Michael Porter will present “East is East and West is West”. The talk will be illustrated with maps that chronicle the development of the road system we have today and how that influenced where people went to school.

Monday August 24 at 7:00PM at the Community Hall

Donna Damon will present “The Steambaot Is Coming”, which will trace how the growing tourism business led to commercial craft whose purpose was to convey visitors to and from our island, and thus point the way to the ferry systems that serve us today.

Monday September 28 at 7:00PM at the Community Hall

Suzie Arnold, the Senior Ocean Scientist at the Island Institute, will discuss “The Changing Waters that Surround Us” and trace the temperature and height of those waters over the years and how those changes have impacted the way Chebeaguers have lived and made a living
