Gift Shop Open

Anne Brenton, manager of the CIHS Gift Shop, says “We’re excited to see our friends from near and far this summer. We look forward to your museum visit and to show you our exciting shop merchandise!” The 2025 hours begin with an early bird weekend: June 14, 10-4 and June 15, 10-1. Regular season hours, beginning on June 21, will be Wednesday through Saturdays, 10-4, Sundays 10-1, and Mondays 10-4. Closed Tuesdays. Look for signs posted around the island. As always, thanks for your support. 

June Mystery Photo

The original owner was a skilled island builder who built the Houghton and Frizzell homes for two of his cousins, who were like sisters to him. Who was the builder? The last Johnson resident was Mildred. What was her occupation?

May Mystery Photo Revealed

Binkie Boxer, Marguerite Bowman and David Rich weighed in on the May photo, but no one answered all questions correctly. The houses located abutting the West End “Cricks” were built for members of the Ricker family. They are owned by Gary Ross and the Bowman Estate. The fish house on the right was given to Poochie Ross, and he moved it across the “Cricks”. He left it to Pat Murray who moved it next to his house. The smallest buildings were outhouses!
